Professor Zvi Borochowitz

About me

Professor Zvi Borochowitz is both a senior pediatrician and a renowned national and

international specialist in the field of Medical Genetics, with a wealth of clinical

experience. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, and specialized

in Medical Genetics in the United States. Prof. Borochowitz established and directed the

Institute for Human Genetics at the Bnai Zion Medical Center in Haifa, as well as the

Division for National Genetics of the Meuhedet Health Fund. He also serves as the

Northern district’s Genetics Consultant for the Leumit and Maccabi Healthcare Services.

In addition to his vast clinical experience, Prof. Borochowitz is a renowned researcher in

the field of medical genetics. He founded and served as the first Chairman of the Israeli

Society of Medical Geneticists, and is currently Chairman of the Supreme Helsinki

Committee for Medical Experiments on Human Subjects. He is a member of the National

Council for Gynecology, Neonatology and Genetics, and serves as a consultant for

matters of medical technology in the field of Genetics to the Ministers of Science and

Health, and the Knesset Science and Technology Committee.
